After Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man, Sidharth Malhotra’s Aiyaary Banned In Pakistan

Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary, which finally saw the light of the day today, has been banned in Pakistan. Reason? For portraying Pakistan in a negative way. Aiyaary is set against the backdrop of the Indian Army, a few scenes have not gone down well with Pakistan – which is their personal perspective.

A source said, “Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI has refused to issue an NOC for the film.”

During one of the conferences while talking about releasing the film in Pakistan, Neeraj Pandey had said, “This time I had told my team to not even try for a Pakistan release. But then we had the luxury of time due to frequent postponement of the film. We had strong queries (demand for the film) from Pakistan.”

This is not the first time Neeraj Pandey’s film has been banned in Pakistan.  A Wednesday, Baby and even MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Naam Shabana and Special 26 did not release there.

Even Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man did not get a clearance in Pakistan. The film that is based on menstrual awareness was banned in the neighboring country due to the subject it deals with. However, many poplar celebrities from Pakistan condemned the ban.

“I am disturbed by this prejudiced pre-judgement. I believe the Pakistan censor board didn’t even bother to see the film. They refused to have anything to do with it, arguing that such films threaten Islamic culture and history. Pray tell, how does a film about the health concerns of women harm any culture in the world? It is truly saddening that we still look at a normal, monthly physiological occurrence as something not to be spoken about,” R Balki had said to the section of media earlier.

Coming to the recent development about Aiyaary’s ban, Satish Anand, who was to distribute the movie in Pakistan confirmed the ban and said that the content was disapproved in the country.
